Seychelles

When to go

As always, choosing the best time to pop in is best matched to the target activities. January and February is sopping wet, tropical showers being Seychelles’ worst weather. But wet is good—relief from the swelter, nourishment for vegetation. So if you choose to come at this time, bring rain gear.

From May to September the seas dance to drier, cooler weather, to the rhythm of 10- to 20-knot winds, particularly on the southeastern coasts. From October to March the northwest trade winds visit, calming the sea, upping the temperature and humidity, lowering winds to 8-12 knots.

Based on these, diving is good from March to May, and September to November. If you like fishing, visit between October and April. Any time of year welcomes sailing and snorkeling. Watch the gorgeous birds in April when they breed, from May to September when Sooty Terns nest, and October to watch them fly away. May to September would be ideal for trekking and trails, surfing waves and wind.
