Local market shopping in Seychelles is a must. Aside from authentic local produce, there are great finds in local handicrafts like batik textiles, handwovens such as baskets and table mats, and wood (traditional furniture and ornaments), pottery, jewelry made from green snail shells. Then there are hordes of artwork and paintings, and homegrown tea. Fresh and dried vanilla pods and cinnamon, are a joy to behold and a must to take back—you will see them growing wild in every island. They also use cinnamon as quills, or as oil.

For serious shopping, Victoria is still touted as the best for the widest range of goods available. Hours are generally from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to noon on Saturdays.
