Bali

Canggu

Aside from surf, surf and more surf, Canggu’s appeal lies in its quaint rice paddy-ocean scenery uniquely juxtaposed with one another, quiet images of the water’s journey from mountain to rice paddies and finally out to sea. A 15 to 20-minute drive northwest of Kuta and Seminyak along the coast, this fisherman’s village is the choice for quiet, budget-friendly seekers who enjoy the local feel and lovely views of rice fields but don’t want to drift too far from action-packed Kuta and other social, commercial centers.

Although relatively new on the tourist radar, Canggu is certainly an up and coming travelers hub, with its most recent development (2006), the exclusive Canggu Club, an international membership club with world-class amenities centered on socials and sports for family. If it’s shopping you’re looking for, take a quick ride to neighboring Seminyak or Kuta, or Legian.

Things To Do

A popular tourist hangout is The Beach House Restaurant at the end of Echo Beach, another tourist favorite. Pantai Seseh, a rugged dark volcanic sand beach. A laid back area, Canggu makes for great horseback riding in many of its yet untouched, secluded beaches along Bali’s southwest coast, cycling through rice fields, enjoying tropical spas, or participating in the increasing number of yoga retreats billeted here.
