Things To Do

A popular tourist hangout is The Beach House Restaurant at the end of Echo Beach, another tourist favorite. Pantai Seseh, a rugged dark volcanic sand beach. A laid back area, Canggu makes for great horseback riding in many of its yet untouched, secluded beaches along Bali’s southwest coast, cycling through rice fields, enjoying tropical spas, or participating in the increasing number of yoga retreats billeted here.

There are some great spots atop the hill overlooking the temple, within or out of the many restaurants, to eat and enjoy the sun bathe the Indian Ocean in tangerine hues as it gently says goodbye past the endless horizon. This is truly one of its and Bali’s many mystical attractions.

Pura Tanah Lot, another of Bali’s many sacred temples, is perched quietly on the shore, frequently washed by the waves in some sections. "Tanah" means earth and "lot" means sea. Its interesting feature is the sacred snake that lives in a cave in the temple. If you are so destined, you’ll be able to pet it for good luck, or perhaps be blessed by a resident priest with holy water from a freshwater spring. The temple at sunset makes a dramatic photograph, but be prepared to contend with a few hundred other cameras for that perfect shot. Be cautious about bringing little children or babies.
