Jambo Africa
Combining World Class Standards with Local Knowledge
Cost-Effective Travel and Conferencing Solutions

Background
Jambo Africa Ltd is a Malawian company and was incorporated on 19th June 2001 as a tour operator. It is a locally owned and managed, Blantyre based company. Since its conception, the company has built up a large customer base, with an unrivalled reputation for efficiency, personal service and reliability. Offering value added products and services to all their customers being a source of pride to the management. A significant amount of income is derived from repeat customers, which shows evidence of on-going customer satisfaction. World –class customer service and attention to detail are yet more factors that have contributed to the success of this vibrant growing company.

In the short six years Jambo Africa has been in operation its track record is enviable. Jambo Africa’s experience in the provision of top quality tours is the perfect background to conference and special events organisation service as well as accommodation / lodge operators. Over the years the management have built up relationships with all leading accommodation providers and other operators both in Malawi and neighbouring countries. As a result, guaranteed excellent service and competitive rates are benefits that can be transferred directly to its own customers.

Major events organised by Jambo Africa include the 2002 Rotary International Assembly and Conference for 450 regional and international delegates, guest of honour Dr. Nelson Mandela, and the annual Lake Malawi International Yachting Marathon. We were also involved in the Commonwealth Magistrates’ & Judiciary Association 13th Triennial Conference 24th – 29th August 2003 and African Insurance Organisation Life Conference 1st – 4th November 2003.

Having had an interest in developing the Lower Shire Valley as a tourist destination from its conception, Jambo Africa acquired the concession for the lodge in Lengwe National Park in 2003. We are firm believer in the vast potential of the Lower Shire Valley as a prime area for eco tourism.

Jambo Africa is an established business and it is committed to developing Malawi, in particular the Lower Shire Valley, as a premier tourist destination. This is evidenced by the upgrading and development of Nyala Lodge at Lengwe National Park and our involvement in the Lower Shire Heritage Trust. At the gate of Lengwe National park the Lower Shire Heritage Trust is establishing Tisunge! – Lower Shire Heritage Centre, which is now near completion. Other than being involved as trustee, Jambo Africa’s assistance to the above mentioned Centre has been providing materials, labour, transport, accommodation for volunteers, and business and technical consultancy. Jambo Africa is also in the process of establishing the Lengwe Conservation Trust involving key people already committed to conservation efforts in the country.

Jambo Africa (Nyala Lodge) has been present in the Lower Shire Valley for quite some years now and through its involvement with the Lower Shire Heritage Trust, Mlambe Foundation and its director Menno Welling, and in setting up the Lengwe Conservation Trust, we have acquired a lot of knowledge about the environment, natural and cultural, of the Lower Shire Valley and its potential for eco tourism. We cooperate closely with the communities in the Lower Shire Valley in developing sustainable income generating activities and involving them in the development of tourism in this beautiful, yet little known, part of Malawi. Jambo Africa can thus boast to be a well established and involved company in the Lower Shire Valley and has harmonious relationship with the communities surrounding Lengwe National Park.

At present we are also exploring the possibility of finding accommodation facilities in Nsanje. This is because of the rich cultural heritage available there as well as to compliment the river trips called ‘Following Livingstone’s Footsteps’ that we conduct starting from Nchalo (SUCOMA).

Services
Jambo Africa is the proud owner of Nyala Lodge located in one of Malawi's lesser known but stunningly beautiful national parks Lengwe National Park and manages Jambo House in Blantyre, a great B&B overlooking Ndirande Mountain.

Jambo Africa has the best Malawi has to offer:- from the magnificent expanse of Lake Malawi, which runs along the entire eastern border, to the high plateaus and majestic Mount Mulanje and the beauty of its many national parks.  Malawi is a land of exciting contrasts. Lake Malawi lies in the southern portion on the Great Rift Valley. Once described by David Livingstone as the “Lake of Stars”, Lake Malawi, is the third largest lake in Africa.  In sharp contrast to the lakeshore are the towering heights of the Mulanje Massif, the highest mountain in Central Africa, the densely forested Zomba Plateau and the rolling hills of Nyika Plateau in the north.

To the south visit Liwonde National Park where the Shire River flows through.  For the more adventurous discover the lesser known southern game parks, located in the beautiful Lower Shire Valley, Lengwe National Park and Majete Game Reserve.  Whilst visiting southern Malawi explore the lake at Cape Maclear and all its wonders.  Don't forget to visit Mount Mulanje!  Also in the south are the sugar and tea estates, which make a fascinating visit.

To the north enjoy the diversity of Malawi's highlands, the hills, valleys and rocky peaks of Viphya Plateau and the unique Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve  Experience the breathtaking Nyika Plateau.  Relax on pristine beaches and swim in the crystal clear waters of Chintheche.
