Booking conditions and Cancellation (click here for more details)
A booking is considered confirmed upon receipt of 25% deposit for camping safari or Kilimanjaro climb, 50% for lodge safari or hotel reservations, on our bank account. Only the amount actually arrived on our bank account shall be considered as paid (money transfer costs are to be paid for by the client). The remaining balance must be paid in cash before start of your programme. We also accept Traveller's Cheques (USD), Visa and MasterCard.

We reserve the right to alter arrangements or cancel the operation of a schedule should it be necessary for reasons beyond our control. It is essential to understand that in Africa, local conditions are not always predictable and such occurances as border closure, poor road conditions etc. can and do from time to time cause delays, frustrations and diversions from the planned route. We will do our best to minimise inconveniences but cannot accept responsability for matters which are clearly beyond our control. The company also reserves the right to accept or retain any person as a member of any expedition at any time, in which case an equitable amount will be refunded.

Late booking
No hotel or lodge reservation will be done before receipt of a downpayment. In case of late bookings, it is possible that by the time a downpayment is received, one or more hotels/lodges might be full booked. We then try to find a room in another hotel or lodge. The price of the itinerary will be adjusted accordingly.

Hotel booking only
If you only want to book a hotel, wihtout booking a safari, a 5% reservation charge will apply, with a minimum of 25 USD and maximum 100 USD. Full payment is required upfront.

The company and its agents act only as agents of the passengers in all matters relating to hotel accomodation, tours, transport etc. and shall not be liable for injury, delays, loss or damage in any manner. The company's liability to passengers carried in its own vehicles is governed by the laws of the country in which the safari takes place and no other country. All claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the country in which the action arises. The company reserves the right to employ sub-contractors for all or part of the services. In the event of such right the terms of this will apply. While every care is taken, the company cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to luggage.

If you have cause to complain whilst on holiday you must bring it to the attention of the guide or other local representative who will do their best to rectify the situation. It is unreasonable to take no action whilst on holiday and to complain upon return.

Personal insurance
It is strongly recommended that all clients are individually insured. This travel insurance should cover personal accident, medical expenses and repatriation, trip cancellation and loss of personal effects. Make sure your insurer is aware of the type of travel to be undertaken.

Tanzania has about 120 tribes, most of them belonging to the Bantu people. One of the largest tribes, the Masai, belongs to the Nilotic group. All these different peoples and tribes have since indepence, unlike many other African countries, managed to build a coherent society without important ethnic tensions.

All these different tribes have their own languages. The national language is Swahili, but English is common in the major cities.

The coastal areas are hot and humid, with an average day temperature of 30°C. The main rainy season is from March to June, the dry hot months being from October to February. The central plateau (1,200m above sea level) has hot days and cool nights.

National Parks
A vast part of the territory is set aside as Natioal Park, Game Reserve or Game Controlled Area. some of the world's most famous national parks, like the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, are to be found here.

How to get there
There are international flights to Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Nairobi. Some airlines offer the possibility to arrive at Kilimanjaro or Nairobi and depart from Zanzibar or Dar-es-Salaam. We can take care of booking your connecting domestic flight to Arusha from Dar es Salaam or Nairobi.

Immigration and Visa
Except for citizens of Commonwealth and other specified countries, all visitors to Tanzania are required to have a visa. Visas can be obtained from any Tanzania diplomatic mission or consulate abroad, but you can easily get your visa at the airport or border on arrival as well.

Currency regulations
Local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (Tsh). There is no limitation to the importation or exportation of foreign currency. Import or export of local currency is prohibited. Foreign currency can be changed into Tanzanian currency at any branch of the National Bank of Commerce or through private exchange bureaus. A visitor who is not travelling on a package tour must pay in foreign currency for all goods and services such as park entrance fees, hotel board and lodging, etc.

Health requirements
All travelers coming from Europe via or transiting through an endemic country, e.g. via Nairobi or Addis Ababa, will need a Yellow Fever vaccination card. This vaccination is valid from the 10th day after the vaccination, for a period of 10 years. Yellow fever vaccination is provided at Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam airports for passengers who do not have this vaccination card, at a cost of 50 USD pp.

Travelers coming directly from Europe to Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam airports on direct flights do not need this vaccination.

How big are your groups on a safari?
Our 4 wheel drive safari vehicles offer comfortable place to five people in the rear, and one person in front with the driver. So we can take up to 6 people on a safari.

Can we go on safari only the two of us?
Of course you can go on your own private safari, together with your driver/guide. In fact, most of our safaris are privately organized. The price however depends on the number of people on safari.

We are only two people
Can we join other people on a safari ?
We are only two people; can we join other people on a safari? Yes,

There are different possibilities:

1. Have a look at our SPECIAL OFFERS. Other people are maybe looking for people to join them.

2. Put together your own safari, and promote it on our Facebook page.

3. Place a message on our Facebook page.

Can we rent a self-drive car?
In Tanzania you will only find a self-drive car for short trips within town. It is not possible to rent a self-drive car outside of town. A car with driver can be rented though.

Do we undertake the climb alone or together with other climbers?
This depends on the number of people in your group. We normally do not mix groups. If you are only one or two people, you might climb together with one or two other people.

How do we get drinking water on the Kilimanjaro?
You will start your climb with 3 bottles of mineral water for the first day. Further up the mountain, water will be boiled and filtered for you.

How many guides, cooks and porters do we get?
All depends on the number of people in your group. You will have one leading guide, with assistant guide(s) serving as porter. We'll arrange for enough porters. The cook can go with an assistant for bigger groups.

What if one of us gets sick and has to return?
In case one person gets sick and has to stay behind or even return, he or she will be accompanied by one of the assistant guides. The leading guide continues with the others.

Can we get our visa on arrival?
Yes, for both Tanzania and Kenya you can get a visum on arrival at the airport or at Namanga border.

How do I proceed with my reservation and payment?
Once we agreed on a certain itinerary and the price, you will be asked to make a downpayment on our bank account. Your booking will be confirmed upon receipt of this deposit, and we'll send you a confirmation e-mail. We shall then also proceed making the necessary reservations. The remaining balance is to be paid cash upon arrival in Tanzania.

Can I pay with Credit Card or Traveller's cheque?
Balance payment can be done in either cash USD, USD Traveller's Cheques or credit card (Visa - MasterCard - American Express). In case of payment with Traveller's Cheques, there is a 2% surcharge. With credit card payments, there is a 6-7% surcharge.
Be advised that the exchange rate to Tanzanian currency for Traveller's Cheques is considerably lower than for cash money.

Best is still to bring cash USD. You'll get the best exchange rates for 50 and 100 USD notes. Also make sure not to bring USD notes older than 1990, as these are not accepted anymore in Tanzania.

Can we use Euro's in Tanzania?
Yes, the Euro can easily be exchanged into Tanzanian currency in the exchange bureau's. They can, however, not yet be used for payment of entry fees in the national parks. We therefore still require payments in USD.

Can we leave excess luggage behind in a hotel whilst on a safari or trekking?
Yes, in most hotels you can leave your Kilimanjaro equipment behind whilst on safari, or your swimming suite whilst on the mountain. Of course this is only possible if you return to this hotel afterwards. There is also the possibility to leave luggage behind at our office.
