This trip is organized by the Malawi Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture and Travel World China, its official representative in China. The FAM trip lasted for 9 days in total and we are very pleased and honored to have invited the industry key players this time to have joined us to learn about the central and southern part of Malawi. More importantly, the purpose of this trip is to explore Malawi’s rich tourism resources and uniqueness to be unveiled to the China market. The FAM trip was led by Ms. Sherry Wu, International Sales Manager from Travel World China.

Malawi is bordered by Zambia to the northwest, Tanzania to the northeast, and Mozambique on the east, south and west. The country is separated from Tanzania and Mozambique by Lake Malawi. Its capital is Lilongwe, the largest city is Blantyre and the second largest city is Mzuzu. The name Malawi comes from the Maravi, an old name of the Nyanja people that inhabit the area. The country is also nicknamed, "The Warm Heart of Africa".
Malawi is enticing. This Warm Heart of Africa beckons you, urges you to take time off and come on a holiday that will afford you a lifetime of memories. You'll be enthralled by our friendly people, and welcomed with warm smiles and warm greetings -- Tikulandirani, 'Welcome' and Muli bwanji? ,'How are you?'
Wherever you go in Malawi, you will find this same warmth of welcome, an innate courtesy, and a desire to be of service to the visitor. Many Malawians speak English and, even in the more remote places, you'll find someone coming forward, eager to help you.
The three tour operators agree that there will be some time needed for Chinese tourists to come to know and understand about Malawi, it is a learning process. However, they are willing to work with some Malawian agents to design an ideal routine especially for the Chinese market.

At the end of the trip, Malawi Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture invited some local travel agents and media to exchange ideas with the three Chinese tour operators. The meeting was a great opportunity for both sides of the agents to meet up in person and to discuss future collaborations. Director of Malawi Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture, Mr Issac Katopola added,” This is our second year working with Travel World China and we have made a five-year plan for our presence in the Chinese market. I strongly believe that Malawi will soon be accepted and acknowledged to the Chinese middle class and higher-end consumers who belongs to the category of well educated and sophisticated group of travelers.”
