Zanzibar
“ Zanzibar- still the best kept
secret in the Indian Ocean with its fascinating historical Stone
Town and magnificent beaches…”

Heritage and history are marks of the famous Stone Town, now
designated a World Heritage Site just like Kenya's very own Lamu.
Sites include the city market, old Anglican Church located on the
site of the old Slave Market and the National Museum of Zanzibar,
the Old British Consulate, the Old Fort dating back since 1700,
House of Wonders and Livingstone House.
It's safe to walk on your own through the winding alleys and
narrow streets so you can explore the small exotic bazaars and local
curio shops that will please any avid antiques-shopper.
The Spice
Island Zanzibar's fresh spices
growing on large plantations are a must-visit. Soak in the heady
aromas, talk to farmers who will show you the traditional spices and
fruits of Zanzibar. End this experience with a delectable meal on
the shore. Stop at the old Sultan Rest House to view the Persian
Baths built in 1850 by Seyyid Said bin Sultan (first Sultan of
Zanzibar) for his wife Princess Shehzard.
Jozani Forest
The only remaining natural
forest on Unguja Island presents a rich variety of bird species,
including the very rare Red Colobus Monkey, which is indigenous to
the Island .
Accommodation
Experience the beach, or
town, or a combination of both. High quality hotels offering a
superior product are in plenty, some which have spas to die.
