Mr Darren Ng, Managing Director of TTG Asia Media
Mr Nond Kalinta, Vice President, Sales Department, Thai Airways International,
Distinguished guests,
Members of the media,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific 2019.

First, I would like to express my appreciation to TTG Asia Media for having been locating this event in Thailand for over a decade. I can say we have been a long-time partner, working creatively together to promote Thailand.

I also thank Thai Airways International for being a steadfast partner in driving growth for our MICE industry.

Despite having hosted this double-bill event for over a decade, TCEB welcomes every edition with relish, because we see this as a golden opportunity to show the world how Thailand can continue to offer fresh, exciting ideas for MICE. Every year, we want to introduce something creative and authentic - a new venue, a new culinary treat, a new activity, or a new destination.

We are well aware of the shifting demands and requirements of the business world, including the media. When they invest time for business travel, like coming to this trade show, they are always looking for something that will redefine their experiences, generate higher return on investment and better return on time.

With that in mind, this year we are able to attract for the first time all 5 MICE cities of Thailand - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Khon Kaen - to set up their own booths to showcase their MICE products and services. Please take your time to visit each of them to find out more how they can fulfil or go beyond your MICE expectations.

On top of that, we aim to help the buyers maximize our wide choices of destinations by offering two new support campaigns. One is Meet Now - Beyond Bangkok and Pattaya to provide support for meeting and incentive groups holding their events in cities outside Bangkok and Pattaya.

The other is Meet Now - The Big Sisters: Bangkok or Pattaya to provide support for meeting and incentive groups holding events in either Bangkok or Pattaya. Our campaigns are in line with the government policy to promote alternative cities as a destination among travellers. Please stop by Thailand National Pavilion B1 where TCEB staff is ready to tell you more about the campaigns.

We have not only campaign products but also services based on innovation and new technology for the industry. At Thailand National Pavilion we are launching "Showcase Area" to feature, for example, photographic-planner application for business travel called SNEAK, F&B venue finder application called POTIONEER. Visitors will also get to meet Thai start-ups to explore new ideas in digitalisation that can be instrumental for MICE industry. TCEB aspires to be a thought leader and through this showcase, we hope to foster new relationships that will advance the industry.

At the pavilion TCEB has also gathered 69 exhibitors representing suppliers from a variety of sectors and destinations at Thailand National Pavilion, giving buyers a great opportunity to meet key contacts and discover the latest products.

Our initiative to highlight new products includes an unconventional venue for our opening ceremony - the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, or BACC. It is a contemporary art and design venue, locating right in the city centre and just across the street from TCEB office. I will let you experience this special venue by yourselves tonight.

For the pre-tour this year, we took the participants on a sensory journey from a coffee experience workshop to a sunset cocktail at Mahanakorn Skywalk. The Skywalk is the newest - and highest - observation deck in Bangkok.

The post tour, we will take participants to two lesser known destinations but full of potential for MICE. The first is the World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya, the old capital of the Kingdom of Siam, located 80 kilometres north of Bangkok. The other is Phang Nga, the neighbour of Phuket. Phang Nga is best known for its emerald green waters, dramatic limestone outcrops and unique southern culture.

TCEB will continue the initiative and introduce innovation for the industry to redefine the experiences of business travellers and make our partnership with stakeholders including TTG and Thai Airways a worthwhile investment on a sustainable basis. In this connection I would like to thank TTG for introducing "Corporate Exchange, Exclusively Thailand", an exercise to connect Thai exhibitors with corporate travel managers. This special arrangement with TTG will help buyers find MICE solutions in a most efficient manner, and help them achieve stronger returns on investment and on time.
I hope you will find many interesting subjects to report on at IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific 2019.

Thank you for joining us at our press conference today.
