Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) is
poised to introduce an integrated portfolio of maritime licensing services on
the side lines of its upcoming participation at Dubai International Boat Show
2016 from March 1 to 5, 2016 at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina
Seyahi. This move is part of DMCA's efforts to facilitate maritime licensing, a
fundamental pillar for seamless management of maritime operations in accordance
with the highest standards of occupational safety, best environmental
practices, and local and international regulations. As part of its participation in the 24th
edition of the flagship regional marine luxury, leisure and lifestyle industry
event, DMCA's pavilion will showcase a unified and integrated platform where
tests for marine craft driving license can be conducted and all kinds of
licensing procedures can be completed quickly and easily. Before a marine
license is issued, an authorized team will verify if all technical
specifications, provisions of maritime safety regulations, and local
environmental requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the unified
international standards. The step is part of the continuous efforts to improve
the performance, safety, efficiency, and competitiveness of Dubai's maritime
sector. DMCA's Executive Director, Amer Ali said
that maritime licensing mechanisms are particularly important because they are
designed to organize, promote and develop the sector in line with the local,
regional and international trends. He pointed out that DMCA will work in
pursuance of Resolution No. 11 of 2013 to issue Implementing Regulations (IR)
of Resolution No. 11 of 2010 for licensing of commercial and recreational
marine crafts and of traditional wooden boats in Dubai. Ali added: "Showcasing our integrated
portfolio of maritime licensing services at Dubai International Boat Show 2016
is part of our tireless efforts to further enhance the sector's various
competitive advantages to make Dubai one of the most important maritime hubs in
the world by 2020." Adel Kalanter, Director-Registration and
Licensing, DMCA, said: "2015 has seen a remarkable demand for licensing marine
crafts and crews. A total of 1,623 licenses were issued for different kinds of
marine crafts and 2,396 licenses for marine crews by the end of December. This
growth was driven by our innovative services and new facilities, among others,
designed to achieve the highest levels of satisfaction and happiness of our customers
as well as integrate all aspects of maritime safety, safe navigation and
operational efficiency off Dubai coasts." Ali concluded: "Last year's positive
results have encouraged us to further enhance customer service through
world-class marine licensing mechanisms. During the event, we will feature
services, facilities and initiatives to achieve our goal of positioning Dubai
as a world-class global maritime hub."
DMCA's pavilion will display a wide range
of innovative services and applications as well as smart services developed to
enhance customer experience and support Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy, an
essential pillar of an ongoing initiative aimed at increasing the confidence of
regional and international investors and improving the local maritime sector's
key components. |
