10th
November, 2015 - Suva, FIJI - The Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Chengdu will play
host to the South Pacific China Roadshow 2015 as the Pacific looks to boost its
tourism marketing presence in China.
Organised
by the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) in association with the
Pacific Islands Trade and Invest (PT&I) Beijing, the roadshow will feature
the National Tourism Offices (NTO) from Fiji, Vanuatu, Tahiti, Tuvalu and Samoa
and private sector participants from Tahiti: Polynesie Voyages, SPT's Partner,
Tahiti Tours, Tahiti Nui Travel, Fiji: Rosie Holidays, Vanuatu: Evergreen
Tours, Adventures in Paradise and Atmosphere Tours.
The
roadshow which will be held from the 9th - 11th November is a prelude to the China
International Travel Mart (CITM) that will be held in Kunming from the 13th - 15th of November, where the SPTO and its members will also feature.
The
South Pacific China Roadshow 2015 embodies the SPTO's determination to actively
explore the Chinese tourism market through face to face communication with
China's travel industry partners and travel media industry in the two emerging
Chinese tourism outbound cities of Guangzhou and Chengdu.
SPTO
Chief Executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi said: "This roadshow is a part of SPTO's
strategic objective to ensure travel agents in China feel comfortable when
selling the South Pacific and to improve destination loyalty amongst agents."
"China
has the largest number of outbound tourists in the world and our marketing
efforts are geared towards tapping into this emerging market by educating
travel agents and the media on the unique products and services that we offer
as a destination in the Pacific," Mr. Vuidreketi added.
The
SPTO will also use the roadshow as a vehicle to promote the European Union
supported South Pacific Travel Trade Specialist training programme, which now
includes the five new specialist trainings covering the niche markets: dive,
culture and heritage, backpackers, fishing as well as wedding and honeymoon.
The
South Pacific Specialist Programme (SPSP) is an online accreditation program
that provides travel agents with the opportunity to develop and enhance their
knowledge on the various tourism products and services that are available
throughout the tropical South Pacific.
