111 million or 19.8% of Chinese netizens booked air tickets, hotels, train tickets and travel packages online in 2012. with the online travel scale reaching 253 billion RMB, increasing 91.68%, compared with the 132 billion RMB in 2011.
The China Railway Bureau official booking website gave impetus to the online travel booking scale indicating 42.1 million netizens booked travel online in 2011, 8.2% of total netizens. It experienced rapid growth of 165.43% thanks to 12306.cn, China Railway Bureau official booking website, and it was reported that the 12306.cn user number reached 1million per day in peak season.
The Online travel scale was 132 billion RMB in 2011, and 253 billion RMB in 2012, increasing by 91.68%. The most searched items are train tickets, air tickets, travel attractions and hotels with percentages broken down to 60%, 56.4%, 52.4% and 50.3% respectively.
